The third OIC call for proposals launched on 10 February 2022 and closed on 29 April 2022. It received a total of 378 entries, of which 251 were deemed eligible. Four outstanding innovators were selected and officially launched on 8 June 2023, coinciding with World Oceans Day.
Cohort 3 innovators have not only achieved significant strides in their projects but have also fostered collaboration and learning, contributing to a healthier marine environment and a more sustainable ocean economy. Their achievements are aligned with SDG 14 targets, particularly SDG 14.2, 14.5, and 14.7, showcasing the transformative potential of innovative solutions in tackling marine conservation and sustainable development challenges.

Cohort 3 innovators engaged partner sites, facilitated community learning networks for marine spatial planning, developed a web-based platform to map marine habitats, and created the world's first regulated pufferfish fishery, transforming pufferfish skins into sustainable fashion products.
